Did you know …

What is the Canton Helpline? It’s the number to call when Canton residents have no place to turn for assistance and support. The caring people on the other end of the line will help connect Canton residents with available resources and services. The Helpline can provide referrals to local social service agencies who can assist callers with basic needs such as food, clothing, furniture, and transportation. In addition, financial assistance is available to help with utility bills and fuel costs. The Helpline also can provide referrals for mental health assistance. Your call will be answered by a qualified volunteer who will discuss any issues or concerns you are experiencing. All calls are confidential. After you have discussed possible solutions and alternatives, when appropriate, you will be referred to a town of Canton community resource or other agency. The Canton Helpline is the one number to call when you don’t know where to turn: 781-828-6666.

The president of the Canton Helpline is Peter Shea and the vice president is Harriet Burak.

It is estimated that over $2 million is needed for repairs to bring the former Gridley School up to code. The selectmen were given the authority at the annual town meeting to repair, sell, or lease the historical building located on Washington Street.

The annual town meeting also authorized $35,000 from free cash to fund the town’s July 4th festivities, which include one of the largest fireworks display on the south shore …
