CPD aids Stoughton in Route 138 motor vehicle chase

By

Canton police joined Stoughton police in apprehending a 28-year-old Hyde Park man who struck several vehicles along Route 138 on Tuesday, June 12 around 4:30 p.m. Police Chief Ken Berkowitz said the pursuit was initiated by Stoughton police and the suspect, Reginald Lloyd Gardner, ended up crashing his motor vehicle near the Bank of Canton before attempting to run away. Officer Scott Brown, with the assistance of K-9 Bosco, along with Deputy Chief Helena Rafferty and Officer Glen Nix were able to track down and apprehend the suspect.

“It was a great job and team effort by everyone involved,” Berkowitz said. “It is still unclear why he ran, but we did seize evidence that leads us to believe he was involved in nefarious activity.”

Gardner faces charges from the Stoughton police and will be summoned to court to face Canton police charges of leaving the scene of an accident causing personal injury, marked lanes violation, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, and resisting arrest.

In another motor vehicle accident on Friday night, June 22, police had to close portions of Pleasant Street for a short period of time in the Oak Road area. Berkowitz said a motorist crossed over the median and struck another car. Police will summons Anthony Giordano, 53, of Milton, to face a charge of OUI liquor.
