American Grit MMA hosts Olympic gold medalist
By Canton CitizenCanton-based American Grit MMA welcomed Olympic gold medal-winning wrestler Kenny Monday to its Turnpike Street facility last week for an intensive, four-day wrestling clinic geared toward middle and high school students. The clinic featured live wrestling sessions as well as drills and skill development under the tutelage of Monday — a former All-American, NCAA champion, USA freestyle champion, and member of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.
In addition to capturing the gold at the 1988 Olympic games in Seoul, Monday (front row, 2nd from left) also competed in two other Olympics, winning silver in Barcelona in 1992 and placing sixth in Atlanta in 1996. Also serving as an instructor at the clinic was Dr. Robert Pritchett, a two-time regional Olympic trial runner-up and current head coach of the Needham High School wrestling team.
American Grit MMA is a year-round training facility that teaches wrestling, jiu-jitsu, and fitness to youth and adults in Canton and surrounding communities. For more information, visit the company’s Facebook page @AmericanGritMMA.
