McCarthy, Daniel F.
By Canton CitizenMajor Daniel F. McCarthy, retired USMC, passed away July 20 at the Baypointe Rehabilitation Center in Brockton.
Born and raised in Milton, he was a “Double Eagle,” graduating from Boston College High School and Boston College. He was a Marine Corps veteran of World War II and the Korean War and retired as a major. In addition to seven Campaign Stars, he was awarded four Presidential Citations as well as the U.S. Marine Commendation Medal with “V” Device. Mr. McCarthy was employed by the Florida State Department of Labor for 30 years before retiring as a manager.
Beloved husband of the late Margaret J. Uncle of Edward Sullivan and his wife, Lorraine, of Andover and Joanne O’Brien and her husband, Eugene, of Canton. Great uncle of Edward H. Sullivan, Jr., Joseph Sullivan, Heather Medeiros, Tim O’Brien, and Jamie Mihaich. Great-great-uncle of Lily, Jack, Evan, Logan, Owen, Graeme, and the late Nolan.
