Police announce 2 more arrests in home invasion case
By Mike BergerCanton police have made two more arrests in connection with a home invasion on Rockland Street on Friday night, July 13. Canton police, working with federal, state and local law enforcement partners, were able to locate and apprehend Brendon Amado, 21, of Stoughton, and Michael Nguyen, 18, of Quincy. Both were arrested on Friday, July 20, and face charges of home invasion, armed assault in a dwelling, armed and masked robbery, larceny over $1,200, assault and battery, conspiracy, and resisting arrest.
A third suspect, 26-year-old Daronde Bethea of Brockton, was apprehended in Stoughton on the night of the alleged incident and faces a slew of charges related to the home invasion as well as multiple gun charges and a charge of assault and battery on a police officer. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said police are still pursing one other suspect in the case. Taken in the home invasion was roughly $2,000 in cash and a small safe. No one was injured during the burglary and police are confident that it was not a random incident.
Assisting Canton police in the case were members of the Stoughton, Boston, Brockton and Quincy police departments, State Police, and the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
Canton man arrested for breaking into Galvin MS
Canton police arrested a local resident in connection with two nighttime break-ins at the Galvin Middle School last week. The suspect, Peter Truong, 18, has been charged with two counts each of breaking and entering and trespassing, and a single count of malicious destruction of property. Police obtained surveillance footage from one of the nights that the suspect gained access to the school through an unlocked window. Police also posted a screenshot of the footage on social media and requested the public’s help in identifying the suspect. Nothing was taken from the school in either incident. Truong was arraigned at Stoughton District Court and he is due back for a pre-trial hearing on July 30.
