White House again shows its true colors

Dear Editor:

Flying the American flag at half-mast after the death until the burial of a national leader is a discretionary act. And, the discretionary actions we take or do not take during life reveal the most about the quality of our inner character.

Once again we have been offered incontrovertible proof of how small, petty, and mean spirited the White House has become.

Postscript: I awoke this morning (Tuesday) to see that the American flag had been lowered to a position of respect and momentarily felt hopeful that the White House had matured, but then I heard the president speak and sadly realized nothing had changed.
