Fowler, William J.
By Canton CitizenWilliam J. Fowler, Jr., 73, of Canton, passed away October 1 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Boston, he was raised in Quincy and graduated from Quincy Trade High School and was an Air Force veteran of the Vietnam Era. He has lived in Canton for the last 45 years and worked for the town of Sharon Water Department for 34 years before retiring in 2011.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post 24 in Canton, Quincy VFW and Canton Town Club, and a volunteer for the Canton Food Pantry and the Canton Council on Aging. He taught woodworking in the evening school at Canton High School for 10 years and helped coordinate over 15 yard sales for breast cancer research.
Bill was a Scoutmaster for Troop #77 in Canton and was always there to help anyone who needed it. But his greatest joy was when he and his son Billy went camping with the Boy Scouts or went to competition truck shows. The last few years Bill had spent many hours bonding and being his son’s electrical helper and mentor. In addition, in 2018, Bill was the first Vietnam veteran to be the grand marshal in the Memorial Day Parade in Canton.
Beloved husband for 48 years of Marie (Horigan). Father of William J. Fowler, III and his partner, Timaree Michienzie, of Foxboro and Kristen Black of SC. Brother of Margaret Brewington of VA. Also survived by two grandchildren.
