Thomas A. Keleher, Sr., retired CPD, 74, passed away October 14 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Norwood, he was a lifelong resident of Canton and graduated from Canton High School, Class of 1963 and served in the Army National Guard. Tom was a Canton police officer for 38 years where he was one of the department’s first motorcycle officers and retired in 2004. He was a state certified firearms instructor and after retirement he ran a certification class. He was a member of the Canton Town Club, Canton Fish and Game, and the Massapoag Sportsman Club.
Beloved husband of Juliana J. (Taylor). Father of Lt. Thomas A. Keleher, Jr., CPD, and his wife, Kerri, of Canton and Katherine Pergola and her husband, David, of Norfolk. Proud grandfather of Jack, Ryan, and Ethan Keleher and Lillian, David and Michael Pergola. Brother of Margaret Nally of Norwood, Antonia Lyons of Dennis, and Daniel Keleher of Easton. Also survived by close family friend Anthony Fallon of Millis.
A funeral mass was held Friday in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Burial Canton Corner Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to Cops for Kids with Cancer, P.O. Box 850956, or to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 450 Brookline Ave., Boston, MA 02215. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
