Scarlett, Benjamin C.

Benjamin C. “Ben” Scarlett, 34, of Canton, passed unexpectedly on August 19, 2018.

Beloved son of Beth and Martin Scarlett. Much loved brother of David Scarlett and Katie Scarlett. Irreplaceable grandson of Marietta Wood and the late David S. Wood Jr., and Jerome and Marjorie Wood Hoffman. Nephew to Sue Ann Wood, and George and Kristen Wood Demeris. Cousin of George Demeris Jr. and Kristopher Demeris. Loving family in Arkansas: Uncles Winton, Kelly and Clinton Scarlett; Aunt Pam, Uncle John and Scarlett Lee Farris.

Ben was an avid reader who loved philosophy and literature. He was a fan of all types of movies and loved a wide range of music. For the past two years Ben was a proud member of the U.S. Army where he trained as a paralegal. Prior to joining the military, Ben worked various jobs, including caring for Alzheimer’s patients. Born in Arkansas and raised in Canton, Ben moved to Mississippi where he attended high school and community college. Returning to Canton after college, Ben worked in several capacities at Norwood Hospital, which he truly enjoyed. A friend to all, Ben was a positive person, a good listener, and had a caring heart. He will be forever missed by all who knew him.

Remembrance service will be held at Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Saturday, October 20, from 12-2 p.m. Private interment at VA National Cemetery, Bourne. For guestbook see dockrayandthomasfuneralhome.com.
