Canton lax player selected to All-State tour team
By Canton CitizenCarson Eutsay of Canton was selected to the Mass Bay Colonials U14 boys lacrosse team that will travel to Florida December 1-2 to compete in the Orlando Lacrosse Open. Eutsay was selected from over 200 athletes from 125 town lacrosse programs from central and eastern Massachusetts.
“The Mass Bay Colonials is an extension of our community-based youth league and was founded to promote town-based lacrosse and the elite athletes who commit to their communities each spring,” said Joey Picard, Colonials GM and director of MBYLL operations.
Eutsay is a third-year player with the Canton Youth Lacrosse program. He plays attack and is currently in seventh grade at the Galvin Middle School.
In addition to Eutsay’s performance at the tryouts, his selection was based on recommendations he received from coaches, teachers, and community leaders. The Mass Bay Colonials seek to not only bring the most talented youth lacrosse players from Massachusetts, but the players who can proudly represent the state both on and off the field.
The U14 team will be led by head coach Matt James. James is the head coach at Melrose High School and was named the 2018 Eastern Mass Lacrosse Coaches Association Coach of the Year. James will be assisted by Chris Gugino, an MBYLL Select League coach and former midfielder at Endicott College in Beverly.
“As a league, we focus on many important facets of the game designed to grow lacrosse and honor its sacred traditions,” said MBYLL President Tom Spangenberg, “and the Colonials is one such example of how we’re uniting our towns, prioritizing teaching the skills in a fun environment, and promoting the importance of character, community, and camaraderie. We’re thrilled to bring the finest athletes and coaches from our small community to a much larger one in Florida this winter.”
