Weather pushes back reopening of Pleasant St.
By Mike BergerLast week’s three-day cold spell and rainy conditions have caused a delay in the planned reopening of Pleasant Street as construction crews continue to work past daylight hours and into the weekend to complete repair work at the Reservoir Pond Dam. DPW Superintendent Mike Trotta said the work is now almost 95 percent complete and the hope is to have the road reopened by Friday, December 7.
In other construction news, Trotta reported that water main installation on Revere Street — which is tied to the Plymouth Rubber redevelopment project — should be completed this week. The developer, Canton Holdings, will pay to have the road repaved next spring.

Firefighters respond to utility pole fire
Canton firefighters responded to a utility pole fire at 2 Will Drive on Saturday, November 24, around 5:30 p.m. When firefighters arrived, they found the top of the pole on fire as well as a grass fire nearby caused by fallen wires. The road was temporarily closed and Eversource was contacted to shut off power to the immediate area so the fire could be extinguished.
For the week of November 19-25, the Fire Department responded to 81 calls for service, including one opioid-related call in which responders successfully administered Narcan to a 38-year-old male.
