News Notes: Police seek shoplifters, ID robbery suspect

Police seeking shoplifting suspects

Police are looking to identify a male and female suspect who are wanted in connection with a shoplifting and assault case that occurred on Saturday, April 6, around 6:45 p.m. at the Marshalls store at the Village Shoppes in Canton.

Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the suspects stole several items and when stopped by a store security officer, the female suspect sprayed the officer with pepper spray before fleeing in a vehicle. Police ID 2nd suspect in 7-Eleven armed robbery

Police issued a summons on Sunday for the second suspect in the October 31, 2018 armed robbery of the 7-Eleven store in Canton Center. Gregory Simmons, 26, of Dorchester, will face charges of armed robbery (masked) and conspiracy. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said Simmons was taken into custody by Boston police. On February 28, Canton police and FBI agents arrested Jerron John Perry, 27, of 71 Norfolk Street, in connection with the October 31 robbery. He was charged with interference with commerce by robbery and being a felon in possession of ammunition and is alleged to have committed two robberies in Mattapan in addition to the robbery of the 7-Eleven store.

Randolph man facing MV assault and other charges

A Randolph man is facing charges after he allegedly used his vehicle to assault Canton Police Det. Sgt. Paul Gallagher while Gallagher attempted to make a motor vehicle stop at the Boy Scouts of America building on Route 138 on Thursday, April 4, around 12:15 a.m. Fortunato Ferrera, 63, faces charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation, assault with a dangerous weapon (vehicle), and refusing to identify himself as a motor vehicle operator. Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said Gallagher was not injured in the incident.
