Pratt, Joel D.
By Canton CitizenJoel D. Pratt, 65, of Canton, passed away unexpectedly on June 19.
Born in Weymouth, he was raised in Canton, graduating from Canton High School, Class of 1972, before attending Nasson College in Maine. Joel worked at Lasden Electric in Canton for many years before becoming a Realtor and joining the family business, JL Pratt in Canton.
In 2013 he earned the Good Neighbor Award from the National Association of Realtors for his work helping match organ donors to recipients through MatchingDonors, a nonprofit based in Canton where he dedicated himself to reaching out to friends, family, and strangers to spread the word about people in need of organ transplants.
He was a member of the Rose Society in Canton, the Canton Town Club, Wampatuck Country Club, and the National Association of Realtors. Joel was an avid golfer and loved spending time at the beach in Siesta Key, FL.
Son of Janet L. (Sutton) and the late Myron Pratt of Canton. Husband of his beloved late Linda A. (Marian). Father of Christy Gingras and her husband, Cam, of Shrewsbury. Brother of Susan Zumbahlen of Norwood, Ralph E. and his wife, Jane, of Canton, and the late Jeffrey M. Also survived by his grandchildren, Casey, Cole and Carly Gingras, and many nieces and nephews. Joel was an amazing person and a loyal friend to those who knew him best.
A funeral service was held Monday in the Congregational Church of Canton. Interment Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton.
