Duffy, Arthur J.

Arthur J. Duffy, 78, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly at home on July 2.

Arthur taught history and social studies at Canton High School and at the Galvin Middle School before his retirement. He received a BA from St. John’s Seminary, an MAT from Boston College, and an MA from Northeastern University. He loved birdwatching, gardening, reading, and Irish culture.

Devoted son of the late Charles F. and Margaret (O’Leary) Duffy. Caring brother of Charles F. Duffy and his wife, Ivy L., of Providence, RI, and Edward L. Duffy of Milton. Devoted uncle of Ariane Swearingen of Canton and Tara Duffy of Galway, Ireland. Loving grand uncle of Riley, Margot and Charlie Star.

A funeral mass was held on Monday, July 8, at St. Agatha Church in Milton. Interment was at Milton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave., Waltham, MA 02451.
