Canton police charge three suspects in July armed home invasion case
By Mike BergerCanton police have arrested two men and summoned a third suspect in connection with an armed home invasion that occurred at a Bay Drive apartment on Saturday, July 20, at around 2:45 a.m. On Thursday, August 1, at 11 p.m., police arrested Nasahn Davis, 27, of Boston and Christen Cherry, 35, of Waltham. A third suspect, Jason Candelario, 30, of Manchester, New Hampshire, will be summoned to court. All three are facing charges of home invasion, armed robbery, assault to commit a felony, destruction of property over $1,200, larceny over $1,200, kidnapping and conspiracy.
Detective Sgt. Paul Gallagher said the three suspects allegedly broke into an apartment at the Prynne Hills (formerly Avalon Bay) residential complex on the Canton-Randolph line and tied up and gagged the lone occupant in the residence. The suspects, according to Gallagher, then proceeded to steal an undisclosed amount of cash, jewelry and electronics. Gallagher said the two suspects in custody are being held until a dangerousness hearing this week.
Canton ambulance struck while transporting patient
Two Canton firefighters and a patient in transport were injured in an ambulance accident last week at the intersection of Route 1 and University Avenue in Norwood. The accident occurred around 9 a.m. on Friday, August 2. Fire Lt. Tom Norton said the ambulance was transporting a female patient who had been injured in a prior motor vehicle accident on Elm Street. Norton said the ambulance was attempting to get through the intersection with the emergency lights on and siren operating when they were struck on the side by a car. Norwood and Westwood sent ambulances to the scene for transport of the patient and the two Canton firefighters. Norton reported that all three patients had minor injuries and were treated and released from Norwood Hospital.
For the week of July 29 to August 4, firefighters responded to 95 service calls, including two opioid-related calls. Both victims were treated with Narcan on scene, transported to area hospitals and later released …
