Giblin, James T.
By Canton CitizenJames T. Giblin, 70, of Canton, passed away August 21 surrounded by his loving family at the Stanley Tippett House in Needham.
Born in Boston, he was raised in Dorchester and graduated from Boston Tech High School. He went on to graduate from UMass Amherst and earned his master’s degree from Northeastern University. Jim was the president of the Alpha Phi Omega Fraternity at UMass and created and maintained their website for many years. He was also active with Habitat for Humanity and built hundreds of birdhouses over the years that Habitat for Humanity decorated and auctioned as a fundraiser for the organization. He was also a volunteer for the Trustees of Reservations, an avid photographer, and loved traveling, woodworking, cooking, food and all things chocolate. He also was a computer enthusiast and loved electronics and maintained a personal website.
Beloved husband of Beverly A. (Lawler). Father of Timothy J. Giblin and his wife, Christine, of Franklin and Bethany L. Jablonski and her husband, Adam, of Medfield. Grandfather of John Giblin and Ryen and Josephine Jablonski. Brother of Alice Shannon and her husband, Robert, of Plymouth and Carol Sasso of Dorchester.
A funeral service was held Monday morning at the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street. Burial private. Donations may be made in his memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Attn.
