“Little Red House” gingerbread replica made by Historical Society member Matt Tate

Visit the Canton Historical Society at 1400 Washington Street during one of its December open houses and browse the many gifts of Canton history available for purchase. Open houses will be held on the next two Sundays from 1-4 p.m.

Guests who visit this coming Sunday, December 15, will enjoy refreshments and also have an opportunity to purchase a drawing ticket for a chance to win a beautiful gingerbread replica of the David Tilden House, or “Little Red House,” which is the focus of a major historical preservation project currently underway at Pequitside Farm. The gingerbread model, with its shredded wheat roof, was carefully crafted by society member Matt Tate.

Other gifts of history available at the Historical Society include a holiday ornament with a picture of the Tilden House, original slates from the Paul Revere Barn, and several books on local history, including a children’s Paul Revere book. Also available are maps chronicling historic Canton and limited edition prints of the Canton Viaduct.
