Joseph W. “Walt” Desjardins, 86, of Canton, passed away December 30 at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital.

Born in San Diego, CA, he was raised in Salem. He attended Salem High School and went on to graduate from Mass. College of Art in Boston. He was a proud Air Force veteran of the Korean War where he served as a radio operator. He taught Illustration Art and Design at Massasoit Community College in Canton for 50 years before retiring. Joe was an avid runner and enjoyed bowling and was a history buff. He was a member of the American Legion Post #24 in Canton and the VFW in Stoughton.

Beloved husband for 63 years of Sandra (Johnson). Father of Douglas Desjardins of Canton and Karen Heffernan and her husband, James, of Brockton. Grandfather of Matthew Lincoln and his fiancée, Kayli Mendes, of Attleboro and Christopher Lincoln of Raynham. Great-grandfather of Gavin and Layla Lincoln. Brother of the late Norman Desjardins. Also survived by many nieces and nephews.
