Canton Presidential Primary Results
By Jay TurnerPresident Donald Trump (R) and Joe Biden (D) both won big in Canton in Tuesday’s presidential primary elections, mirroring the results across the state of Massachusetts.
In the Democratic Primary, Biden picked up 39.4 percent of the local vote, compared to 33.7 percent statewide. Michael Bloomberg also fared better in Canton with 15.3 percent of the vote, compared to 11.8 percent statewide. The more left-leaning candidates, comparatively speaking, were less popular among Canton voters with Bernie Sanders receiving 19.7 percent support (26.6 percent statewide) and Elizabeth Warren receiving 17.9 percent (21.2 percent statewide).
In the Republican Primary, Canton’s Bill Weld received only a slight hometown boost with 9.6 percent of the vote (9.3 percent statewide). President Trump was still the overwhelming favorite among Canton’s GOP voters, receiving 86.1 percent support (87.7 percent statewide).
Unofficially, the total turnout in Canton was 5,545 voters in the Democratic Primary and 1,115 in the Republican Primary.
