Beith, James K.
By Canton CitizenJames Kingston Beith, Jr., 70, of Attleboro, passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by his loving family on Friday, March 20, 2020. He was the devoted husband of Linda (Lapierre) Beith of Attleboro.
Born July 20, 1949, in Brookline, Jim was the eldest son of the late James K., Sr. and Eleanor (Peterson) Beith, and grandson of the late James and Florence Beith of Dorchester, and the late Ernest and Selma Peterson of East Grand Forks, MN.
Growing up, Jim’s family lived in Randolph and Stoughton, and ultimately Canton, where he spent the majority of his youth. A graduate of Canton High School in 1968 and Bridgewater State College in 1974, he earned a bachelor’s degree in political science.
After marrying Linda in 1974, they resided in Attleboro and North Attleboro, raising their family. The most recent 10 years were spent in Bristol, RI, with a return to Attleboro in November 2019.
Jim worked initially for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company, moving on to programming, computer systems analysis and administration positions at South Shore Lincoln Press, 16 years at the Robbins Company in Attleboro, and retiring from the Key Corporation at Boston Financial Data Systems in Braintree.
Jim coached softball for the Plainville Athletic League, the South Attleboro Girls Recreation Association, and he also coached football for the South Attleboro White Hawks. A natural athlete, he enjoyed playing softball with the Robbins Company team. He attended Trinity Episcopal Church in Canton and the Oldtown Church-First Congregational in North Attleboro.
Besides playing and coaching sports, Jimmy loved reading history, and spy/war/detective novels. He enjoyed playing chess, listening to his favorite 50s and 60s music, cheering for the Red Sox and Patriots, working in his yard, and he relished a good debate! Most of all, Jim loved, and was most proud of his beautiful family.
In addition to his wife, James K. Beith is survived by their four children and spouses: Michaela (David) Goodwin of Cape Elizabeth, ME, Patrick (Janet) Beith of North Attleboro, Kathleen “Kate” (Mark) Kaschenbach of Ridgewood, NJ, and Morgan (Christopher) Tower of Lantana, TX; his 13 grandchildren: Brady, Halston, Donovan, James, Cade, Liliana, Colton, Minka, Jagger, Harrison, Charlotte, Paisley and Remington; his siblings: Bonnie (Gary) Triplett of Efland, NC, Eric (Rosalie) Beith of Weston, and Nancy Beith of San Francisco, CA; his parents-in-law: Armand and Loretta Lapierre of Attleboro; and a large, loving contingent of eight brothers/sisters-in-law and their spouses, and many adoring nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim cherished his family and his friends.
Sincere gratitude is extended by our family to the Continuum Care Hospice staff and Dr. Matthew Brumbaugh for their caring and compassion.
