Canton Writes announces winners
By Canton CitizenThe Friends of the Canton Public Library are pleased to announce the winners of the 2020 edition of Canton Writes, the annual town-wide writing contest sponsored by the Friends and the Canton Citizen.
Approximately 70 entries were submitted in three categories — poetry, short stories, and nonfiction/memoirs — and first, second and third place winners were awarded by age group.
All of the entries will be published in the Canton Writes book, and two virtual awards ceremonies will be held — one for elementary and middle school winners on July 21 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. and one for high school and adult winners on July 23 from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
Many thanks to all who entered and to the judges: Andrea Capone, Chris Untersee, Joanne Wheeler, Bernie Mendillo, Sylvia Cormier, Beth Magann, Maura Bayliss, Pam Cattel, Jay Turner, Lori Fanara, and Andrew Capraro. Canton Writes would also like to thank committee members Mike Sundin (chair) and Peg Mead, Linda Berman and the Friends of the Canton Public Library, the Canton library staff, George T. Comeau for the cover photo of the friends statue, and Mary Jane and Tim Mangan for putting together the Canton Writes book.
