News Notes: Missing Canton man has been located
By Canton CitizenUpdate: The Canton Police Department announced via Twitter that Donald Changeau was located in Quincy on Friday morning. CPD and the Changeau family thank the public for their assistance.
Police seek help in locating missing adult
On July 22, the Canton Police Department announced an investigation into the whereabouts of Donald Changeau, who has been missing since February. It marked the second missing person’s case in the last two weeks for the CPD, who previously led a search for a missing 19-year-old resident. According to police, Changeau, 40, went missing from the Green Street area of Canton near the Milton line. His family reported him missing and noted that he has gone missing in the past for periods of time and then been located. The CPD posted an alert on its Facebook and Twitter pages and asked users to share the post. Anyone with information about Changeau’s whereabouts is urged to contact the CPD at 781-828-1212.
3 hurt in MV crash on Pleasant Street
Firefighters transported one victim to the hospital and EMTs treated two others at the scene following a two-car accident on Thursday, July 23, at 9 p.m. at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Estey Way. Fire Lt. Tom Norton said firefighters arrived to find one vehicle resting against a house and the other against a utility pole. Crews worked quickly to remove all victims from the wreckage. One person was transported to Good Samaritan Medical Center and the other two refused transport to the hospital. Building Commissioner Ed Walsh responded to the scene and deemed the residence was safe to occupy.
Over the past week, Canton firefighters responded to a total of 84 requests for service, none of which were opioid-related.
DESE, MTA agree to delay start of school year
On Monday, July 27, the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Mass. Teachers Association (MTA) announced an agreement delaying the start of the school year in September and reducing the number of required days from 180 to 170. School districts will have 10 additional days at the start of the school year before instruction begins to prepare educators for the new school year. Districts must begin to educate students no later than September 16 or seek a waiver. The start of the school year will likely be discussed at the remote School Committee meeting scheduled for July 30.
