Library’s Ann Woodman deserving of the spotlight
By Canton CitizenDear Editor:
I was delighted to read an acknowledgement of children’s librarian Ann Woodman in Rachael Allen’s “Margin Notes” column in last week’s Citizen.
Ann is one of my favorite people in Canton. She has launched many a young reader with kind enthusiasm over the years. For my two daughters she has been an inspiration, especially for my oldest daughter, Julia. Early on, Julia demonstrated an interest in diseases, especially infectious diseases, i.e. chicken pox, mumps, etc. Ann worked with her and found books in the children’s section and then moved on to the adult section as Julia’s appetite for knowledge grew.
Today Julia has just graduated from American University as a public health major with plans to become a physician’s assistant. Ann and her daughter (who also babysat our girls) came to our drive-by parade to celebrate Julia’s graduation in May. We were delighted to see them and so appreciate all that Ann has given to Canton.
