Return of the rink

Excitement has been building for the reopening of two popular Canton recreational facilities: Metropolis Skating Rink on Route 138 and the Bolivar Pool & Aquatic Center on Bolivar Street. Metropolis rink, a Canton institution since the early 1970s and longtime home to the CHS and Canton Youth Hockey programs, is expected to soon reopen its doors after a nearly six-year closure caused by a roof collapse. Funded with a combination of insurance proceeds and state and local monies, the facility has been rebuilt and refurbished and will be operated by the Canton Parks & Rec. Department via a long-term lease arrangement with the state Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR).
