Blue Hills enthusiasts invited to join 125-Mile Club
By Canton CitizenDo you love the Blue Hills and enjoy exploring the vast number of natural and historical treasures throughout the park? Do you want to put your boots down on every trail in the Blue Hills? Do you want to belong to a community that also shares your love of exploring the park?
If so, then you’ll want to sign up for the Blue Hills 125-Mile Club.
Sponsored by the Friends of the Blue Hills, the 125-Mile Club is a challenge to hike every trail within the Blue Hills Reservation. Participants will receive a free Blue Hills guide featuring the new 2020 Blue Hills Reservation Trail map. Hikers keep track of their own progress, and those who complete the challenge will earn a 125-Mile Club patch. Hikers can also receive a special Skyliner Commemorative patch after hiking the entire Skyline Trail from end to end.
By joining the 125-Mile Club, members will also join a community of Blue Hills-loving explorers in sharing their hikes and their challenge journey. Members are encouraged to use the hashtags #BlueHills125Club or #BHSkyliner to share pictures of their hike, and they can connect with others through 125-Mile Club posts on the Friends’ Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter pages.
While the 125-Mile Club is free to join, members are encouraged to donate $10 to cover the cost of their patches, or they can donate to cover the cost of patches for others. They may also want to consider becoming a Friends of the Blue Hills member, which costs $30 and helps to ensure the trails are clear and passable all year long. Additional membership levels include Ponkapoag Protector ($50), Hancock Hill Hero ($100), and Skyline Steward ($250).
Already, over 500 people have signed up for the Blue Hills 125-Mile Club. To learn more or to join the club today, visit friendsofthebluehills.org/125mileclub.
