Canton man arrested on drug, weapons charges
By Mike BergerA 21-year-old Canton man was arrested and charged on Monday, June 14, with multiple drug and weapons violations and a second suspect may be summoned to court this week to face charges. Police arrested Kevin Cleary of 22 Concord Ave. and charged him with carrying a firearm without a license, possession with intent to distribute a Class D drug; carrying a loaded large capacity firearm; unlawful possession of ammunition; possession with intent to distribute a Class C drug (two counts); conspiracy to violate the drug law; inducing a minor to distribute a drug; and possession of a large capacity firearm.
Deputy Police Chief Helena Rafferty said a search warrant was executed as a result of an ongoing investigation. Police recovered a Glock firearm and several rounds of ammunition. Police also recovered a large amount of various types of marijuana, packaged edibles, gummies and some psychedelic mushrooms, numerous drug ledgers and thousands of dollars in U.S. currency. Cleary pleaded not guilty at his initial hearing and was released after posting bail. His next court date is for a pretrial conference on August 11.
Firefighters respond to MV crash on Neponset St.
On Wednesday, June 16, at approximately 3:15 p.m., Canton Fire Engine 3, along with Car 5 and ambulances 1 and 2 responded to a two-car motor vehicle accident on Neponset Street near the intersection with Chapman Street. Both Canton ambulances transported injured persons to local hospitals. Engine 3 remained on scene to assist with clearing and cleaning the roadway.
