Titus, Mary E.

By

Mary E. (Santoro) Titus of Canton passed away July 26 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Born and raised in Norwood, she was a graduate of The Henry O. Peabody School. After moving to Canton in the late 1950s, she and her husband, Donald, took over Neponset Café. While Donald tended the bar, Mary prepared lunchtime meals for many of the workers in downtown Canton. A career highlight was catering for Clint Eastwood and his movie crew when he filmed in Canton.

Mary was longtime member of the Canton Garden Club and her perennial flower beds surrounding her yard and pool will bloom for years to come. She was an artist who also enjoyed teaching her craft of decorative painting and stenciling to others. Traveling was a real pleasure to Mary. She visited many foreign countries and toured many of the U.S. states and national parks as a tourist and as a tour guide for Crimson Travel.

A proud sister, aunt, mother and grandmother, Mary had the gift of making everyone feel loved and extra special. She loved singing, listening to music and entertaining family, friends and neighbors. Frank Sinatra’s music was a favorite. After raising five children she became a grandmother. Her grandchildren called her Noni. The neighborhood children and her fans on Spacebook called her Noni as well.

Beloved wife of the late Donald A. “Big D” Titus. Mother of Donna M. Titus of Norwood, Donald A. Titus Jr. of Canton, Wendy L. Titus of Canton, Gary S. Titus and his wife, Sarah, of Canton (their children Louie and Caroline), and William “Billy” Titus and his wife, Laurie, of Mansfield (their children Thomas, Billy Jr. and Olivia). Sister of Charles Santoro and his wife, Diane, of West Wareham, Anna Cohen of Stow, and the late Henry J. Santoro, Jr., Patsy Santoro, Dorothy “Dodo” Palazzi, Louise Teague, Jeannette E. Santoro and Louis “Woody” Santoro. Also survived by her personal aide Tyler McCourt of Canton.
