Heaney, Matthew T.
By Canton CitizenMatthew T. Heaney, 52, of Needham and formerly of Canton, passed away suddenly at home on September 18.
Born in Syracuse, NY, he was raised in Canton and attended St. John’s School. He graduated from Canton High School as a member of the Class of 1987 and Massasoit Community College in Canton. Matthew was previously a parishioner at St. John the Evangelist Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #2095. Always the avid sports lover, Matt was a dedicated Minnesota Vikings, Atlanta Braves, Boston Celtics, and Boston Bruins fan.
Matthew was also a very loving and proud father. Those left to cherish his memory are Samantha Heaney of Hampton, Virginia, and Caitlyn, Meghan, Abigail, Ryan, Emily, and Sydney Heaney, all of Middleboro. Devoted son of Leo M. and Ellen C. (Walsh) Heaney of Leesburg, VA. Brother of William Heaney of Sterling, VA.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday in St. John the Evangelist Church in Canton. Burial at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Canton. Donations may be made in Matt’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at www.stjude.org. Arrangements by the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street.
