Canton Fall Classic road race returns October 24
By Canton CitizenFor more than three decades, the Canton Fall Classic has offered a scenic and challenging road race with a course for all ages. This year’s race, sponsored by B’nai Tikvah in Canton, will be held on Sunday, October 24, and will feature both a 10K and 5K starting at 10 a.m., a one-mile Fun Run at 9:45 a.m., and a one-mile Senior Walk beginning at 9 a.m. More than 400 runners are expected to participate.
Runners who pre-register will receive a dri-fit race shirt. Registration fees are $30 for the 5K and 10K, and $15 for the Fun Run and Senior Walk. After the race there will be a lively vendor village along with refreshments.
The Canton Fall Classic benefits B’nai Tikvah and the Canton Food Panty. Race organizers are Karen Reiser and Harvey Blonder. Reiser thanked the many sponsors who make the event possible, particularly platinum sponsors Orchard Cove and MS Walker and gold sponsors Sullivan Tire and Walnut Tree Services.
The race has been hailed as one of the premier races on the south shore because of the organization, the course and attention to detail. It has been included in many local grand prix series (which award points to runners for their attendance at specific regional races). Runners like local legend Stephen Warren have recognized it as “a great course, well organized and run by great people.”
