Board of Health announces vaccine and testing clinics

The Canton Board of Health is pleased to offer the following free clinics this weekend at the Hansen Elementary School:

* Saturday and Sunday: Flu vaccination from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. for individuals ages 2 and older. Insurance is not required. Pre-registration is encouraged but not required (home.color.com/vaccine/register/canton).

* Saturday and Sunday: COVID-19 BinaxNow testing from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.

* Saturday only: Pfizer COVID-19 vaccination from 12 to 12:30 p.m. for individuals ages 12 and older. Booster shots are available to those who qualify. Pre-registration is required — visit home.color.com/vaccine/register/canton.

COVID statistics trending lower

Although the town of Canton’s COVID risk level is still at “substantial” and the indoor mask mandate remains in effect, the Canton Board of Health reported an improvement in the numbers with the town seeing seven fewer cases last week (16 total) compared to the week before. In the Canton school system, there were three positive cases reported between September 30 and October 6, one each at the Galvin, JFK and Hansen schools. Since September 1, CPS has reported 25 positive cases.

CAASA Update: Youth Prevention Month

October is National Youth Substance Use Prevention Month. Visit CAASA’s Facebook group (Canton Alliance Against Substance Abuse) for the latest posts on local events and campaigns centered around youth substance use prevention. On October 3 at the Canton Farmers Market, CAASA hosted a table and heard the community’s thoughts on alcohol and drug prevention.
