Special town meeting set for Tuesday, December 14
By Canton CitizenFollowing approval at last week’s Special Town Meeting, a decision on the proposed town purchase of the St. Gerard Majella property via debt-exclusion will go before voters in a special election on Tuesday, December 14.
Early voting at Canton Town Hall began on Saturday, December 4, and concluded on Friday, December 10.
For those who plan to vote on Election Day, December 14, polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the regular voting locations: Canton High School (Precincts 1 & 6), Luce School (Precinct 2), Blue Hills Regional (Precinct 3), and JFK School (Precincts 4 & 5).
Please note: Once a voter has cast an early ballot, he or she may no longer vote at the polls on Election Day. For more information, please contact the Canton Town Clerk’s Office at 781-821-5013.
An affirmative vote would authorize the town to issue debt capital amounting to $3.305 million to acquire the former church property on Washington Street (pending acceptance by the Archdiocese of Boston). The bond would carry a 20-year term and would cost the average property owner an additional $17 per year for the length of the bond.
