Colp, Gilda M.
By Canton CitizenGilda Marie (Berardi) Colp, age 90, of Sevierville, TN, formerly of Port Charlotte, FL, West Bridgewater and Canton, passed away on Wednesday, December 8, 2021.
Gilda was born and raised in Canton, where she met her husband, George O. Colp. She devoted her career working in the cafeteria at Canton High School while raising her four children. She was also a fantastic seamstress, singer, and all-around happy person.
Gilda moved to Port Charlotte in 1996 to be close to her daughter, Patricia, and son-in-law Thomas Learned, where she enjoyed the sunny, warm weather during her retirement. In 2017, she moved to Tennessee to be close to her son Robert and granddaughter Nicole and her mom, Wanda Colp.
Gilda was predeceased by her husband, George O. Colp. She is survived by her four children, Stephen R. Colp and his wife, Nancy, of Taunton, Patricia A. Learned of Punta Gorda, FL, Robert F. Colp of Sevierville, TN, and George O. Colp, Jr. of Jamaica Plain, as well as eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Gilda is also survived by her brothers Gino Berardi and wife Ginny, Joseph Berardi and wife Mary, and Edward Berardi and wife Donna; her sister Ann Kirk and husband Thomas Kirk; sister-in-law Phyllis (Berardi) Martin; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers Daniel Berardi and wife Brigette (aka Dolly), Richard Berardi, Robert Berardi, and Francis Berardi.
At her request, there will be no service, but her family will celebrate her long life at a later date. Atchley Funeral Home in Sevierville, TN is assisting the family with the arrangements.
