By Canton CitizenMargaret J. Briggs, “Peggy,” 69, of Canton, passed peacefully on January 22 at Good Samaritan Medical Center.
Peggy was raised in Canton by her loving parents, Joseph and Margaret Hanton, and graduated from Canton High School in 1970. Peggy worked some small jobs but her true calling was being a mother to her two sons and a doting wife. She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her kids and grandchildren. Family was the most important thing to Peggy.
Peggy is survived by her husband, James, of 48 years. Devoted mother to James Briggs and his wife, Kathleen, of Whitman and Kevin Briggs and his wife, Tracy, of Whitman. Loving sister of Susan Mitchell of West Bridgewater. Peggy also has four beautiful grandchildren, Collin, Jordan, Cassidy and Jayleen, who thought the world of her and two loving nephews, Ryan and Mark, who she considered her own.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours in the Dockray & Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, on Friday from 12-2 p.m. A service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. Burial private.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Peggy’s memory to Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA 02284. Dana-Farber was close to Peggy’s heart as her daughter-in-law, Kathleen, is currently battling cancer.
The family is requiring masks to be worn during visiting hours and the memorial service.
