Virginia “Ginny” F. (Lang) Callaghan, 90, of Canton, passed away January 25 surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Boston, she was raised in Brighton and graduated from St. Columbkille High School. She was married to her loving husband, Paul, for over 70 years. They were each other’s soul mate and best friend. Ginny worked as a waitress at Schrafft’s in Boston, IHOP in Brighton and Gordon’s in Stoughton. She lived in Canton and Florida for the last 47 years and volunteered in many settings, including rehab centers in Florida and Massachusetts. In her younger years she was a Girl Scout leader. She was always the first to offer help to anyone in need.

Ginny was a people person, an avid reader, gardener and baker, and she loved to dance and play Bingo. She discovered her talent as an artist at Cornerstone at Canton, where she lived with her husband, Paul, for the past few years. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was known to them and their friends as “Ma Ginny.” She also enjoyed traveling and vacationing with Paul, their family and many friends.

Ginny was a devout Catholic and was generous with her time and resources to causes she held most dear. Some of her favorites involved children and helping families in need. Ginny lived her life to the fullest and was a shining example to her family and all those whose lives she touched.

Beloved wife of Paul Callaghan. Mother of Christine O’Halloran of Canton, Cheryl Conroy and her husband, Jim, of Canton, and Paul M. Callaghan and his wife, Susan, of Wakefield.
