Canton police responded to three separate assault cases in a span of three days last week. The first incident occurred on Tuesday, March 1, and involved an alleged physical assault on a student at the Judge Rotenberg Center on Route 138. Deputy Chief Helena Rafferty said the suspect, Babatunde Ayekun, 48, of Belmont, allegedly struck the student eight times and was charged with eight counts of assault and battery on a person with intellectual disability.

The following day, police responded to a Plymouth Street residence where an argument between two friends had escalated, resulting in one of them being stabbed in the hand with a knife. Police arrested Charles Buccieri, 36, of Brockton and charged him with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, defacing property, assault to maim and intimidating a witness. Rafferty said the injuries sustained by the friend were not life-threatening.

The third incident occurred shortly before noon on Thursday, March 3, and involved an apparent case of road rage at the intersection of Randolph and York streets. Rafferty said the suspect, Harrison O. Nwabude, 39, of Randolph, allegedly took a baseball bat and smashed the victim’s car windows. Nwabude was charged with malicious damage to a motor vehicle and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
