By Canton CitizenRobert J. Corkery, 85, of Canton, passed away May 10 at home surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Quincy, he was raised in Milton and attended St. Gregory’s High in Dorchester. Bob was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was the owner and operator of Corkery Tractor Trailer in Canton for many years and was a creative inventor and builder. He was a dedicated family man, an avid boater and sea captain, and loved spending his summers at his home in Wareham. Bob also was a frequent contributor to the Canton Citizen where he advocated for everything he was passionate about. In his early years he was an undefeated professional boxer.
Beloved husband for 61 years of the late Marlene A. (MacPherson). Father of Marianne Hart of Dedham, Michael Corkery of Stoughton, Daniel Corkery of Norton, Karen Tavares of Taunton, Christopher Corkery of Foxboro, Patrick Corkery of Hanover, Nicholas Corkery of Canton, and the late Robert Corkery. Brother of John Corkery of Marion, Christine Rinderer of Mexico, and the late Joan Blake and Mary Coppola. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
