Rich was born and raised in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1984. Growing up, he played youth baseball and hockey and played both sports in high school. After high school he attended Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he graduated with a degree in computer engineering. After college Rich went on to work in the produce industry, working for Monarch Foods, Beacon Fruit and Produce, and P. Tavilla Co.
Rich was an avid New England sports fan and a former member of Wampatuck Country Club. He spent his years working hard and providing for his family in any way he could. Rich was blessed and surrounded by a large, loving family and valued “family time” more than anything.
Rich was a devoted father to his daughter, Taylor Lane and her fiancé, Paul Freeman; and to his son, Ryan Lane and partner, Alexandra Luchetti. Loving son of Richard and Dianne (Cogliano) Lane; caring brother to his two sisters, Kelli-Ann Toupin and her husband, Michael Toupin, and Brianne Lane and her partner, Troy Fickett; dear friend of his former wife, Joanne (Bruno) Lane, and fun uncle to his niece Madison and nephews Joey and Greyson.
A funeral Mass was held Tuesday in St. Oscar Romero Parish in Canton. Burial Knollwood Memorial Park.
