News Notes: Chief B farewell event set for July 14

Family and friends are invited to celebrate 30 years of service to the town of Canton by former Police Chief Ken Berkowitz on Thursday, July 14, at Blue Hill Country Club on Pecunit Street. A cocktail hour will begin at 5 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets are $65 each and payment can be made via Venmo to @Helena-Rafferty or @Brian-Higgins.

CPD officers receive Medal of Lifesaving

Police Chief Helena Rafferty said the Massachusetts State Police recently presented Medals of Lifesaving to CPD sergeants Sean Becker and Sean Goode and Officer Chip Yeaton for their efforts on a past call in which they saved the life of a female with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the chest.

Firefighters free occupants in rollover accident

At approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, June 20, Canton firefighters and ambulance crews responded to a motor vehicle rollover accident on Navaho Drive. When emergency crews arrived, they found a single car on its roof in a driveway with two people both trapped inside. Firefighters were able to free the passengers, and both were transported by ambulance to Good Samaritan hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Firefighters remained on scene until the vehicle was removed from the driveway. Fire Lt. Tom Norton said the cause of the accident is unknown …
