Kiessling, Caroline

By

Caroline Taber Kiessling, of East Walpole, passed away suddenly on August 12, 2022.

Daughter of the late Carlton and Thelma (Whitney) Taber of Canton. Beloved wife of the late Edward Kiessling, Sr. of East Walpole. Loving step-mother of Elaine Bevivino and her husband, Perry, of York, PA, and Edward Kiessling Jr. of Plainville. Proud Nana of Kyle Kiessling and Joey Bevivino. Caroline is survived by her cousins Suzanne and Roderick Hunt of Londonderry, NH, and their children, Robin Littlefield and husband John of Hooksett, NH, along with Robin’s children, Abby and Amelia Milonas, and Carol Loring and husband Dale of Barrington, NH, and their children, Dr. Nicole Loring and Justin Loring.

In addition, she is survived by her cousin Barbara Geist and husband Richard along with children Michael, Timothy, and Jeffrey Dart; cousins Allan and Lynn Sawyer; Stuart and June Archer; Carol and Patrick Shiel; Timothy and Margaret Louis; and all of their families and numerous other cousins across the country.

Caroline grew up in Canton and graduated from Canton High School in 1958. She attended Bates College in Maine where she graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, then went on to Boston University where she obtained her master’s degree. Caroline taught for nearly 40 years at the former Bird Elementary School and the Fisher Elementary School in Walpole, where she touched many third graders’ (and their parents’) lives during her tenure.

She was a 72-year member of the Congregational Church of Canton and served on numerous boards and committees of the church and sang faithfully in the choir. Those who attended the annual church fair always knew they would find Caroline selling her famous jams and jellies at the “Country Store,” having preserved most of the jars herself. Caroline also enjoyed singing in the Neponset Choral Society, working at the election polls for the town of Walpole, and traveling extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe. She was also a past president of the MA Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, a teaching sorority.

Caroline was extremely generous with her time, and she accumulated many close friends in Canton, Walpole, Boothbay Harbor, ME, New Hampshire and beyond. She will be remembered for her singing voice, generosity, integrity, compassion, gentle nature, sense of humor, and dedication to her students, friends, and most especially her family.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 20, at the Congregational Church of Canton. Donations in Caroline’s memory may be made to the Memorial Fund at the Congregational Church of Canton, 1541 Washington Street, Canton, MA 02021. Arrangements by the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, www.roache-pushard.com.
