By Canton CitizenAnne Marie (Curran) Gauthier, 85, of North Andover, quietly passed away on Thanksgiving Day at High Pointe Hospice house surrounded by her family. She was born on May 30, 1937, in Canton to the late James and Gertrude (Healy) Curran.
Anne is a graduate of Canton High School. She later graduated from Burdett Business College, where she majored in secretarial science, and also attended Académie Modern finishing school in Boston. She was employed at North Andover Town Hall, North Andover High School, and retired as a legal secretary for the city of Lawrence.
She was an active member of St. Michael’s Church in North Andover. She was a vice president of the North Andover Women’s Club and a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Division 8 in Lawrence. She was also a leader of the Girl Scouts.
In addition to the love and support she has always given her family and friends, she was an avid bird watcher and loved walking at the North Andover Common and hiking in the White Mountains and enjoying the beach at Plum Island.
Anne is survived by her husband of 61 years, Robert Royal Gauthier. She is survived by her two daughters, Tracey Gauthier-Peters and her husband, Fran Peters, of Andover and Joanie Gauthier and Jack Simko of Newbury; her two sons, Robert Royal Gauthier, Jr. of Salem, NH, and William Curran Gauthier and his wife, Beatrice, of Riverside, CA; her granddaughter Tonicia Hardy and her husband, Robbie Hardy, of Seabrook; her grandson Kurt Gauthier of Charleston, SC; her sister-in-law Joan Miller of Fairfield, CA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents and her four brothers, James, Robert, William and Paul Curran.
A funeral Mass was celebrated Wednesday, November 30, in St. Michael’s Church in North Andover. Burial at Ridgewood Cemetery, North Andover.
