Burning up the ice
By Canton CitizenThe Canton High boys ice hockey team made it a perfect 5-for-5 in the month of December with a pair of wins last week over Westwood (2-2-0) and Wakefield (1-3-0).
The victory over the neighboring Wolverines came Wednesday night at the Canton Ice House, with the Bulldogs winning by a 4-1 final score to capture the Joe Donnelly Cup, named in memory of the longtime CHS hockey play-by-play announcer.
Two days later, the Bulldogs survived a scare from Wakefield but held on to win 5-3 on home ice behind a two-goal effort from senior Jack Digirolamo. Freshman defenseman Teddy Shuman also got on the scoreboard in the win, netting his first career varsity goal late in the opening period, while senior Jeff Chaput and junior Colin Blake rounded out the scoring for the Bulldogs.
The action picks back up after the New Year with Canton welcoming Davenport Division foe Foxboro (3-3-0) to Ponky on Wednesday, January 4, starting at 4 p.m.
