O’Brien, Joan M.
By Canton CitizenJoan M. O’Brien, 83, of Taunton, formerly of Canton and Mission Hill, passed into the hands of the Lord January 1, 2023.
Joan was born and raised in Mission Hill and graduated from Mission Hill High School, Class of 1957. She was the loving daughter of the late Maurice and Helen O’Brien. Adoring mother of Robert E. Maffie and his wife, Lisa, of Canton, Michael A. Maffie and his wife, Katherine, of Norwood, loving daughter-in-law Lucretia Maffie of Dedham, and Joan M. Maffie of Taunton.
Proud sister of Helen M. Baril and her husband, Daniel, of Canton, and the late Richard K. O’Brien and his wife, Mary, of Canton, and the late Maurice E. O’Brien and his wife, Mary. Proud grandmother of Michael A. Maffie of Fall River, Austin D. Maffie of Canton, and the late Anthony R. Maffie. Proud great-grandmother of Bella and Braelyn Maffie. She also leaves many friends whom she was grateful for their love.
Visiting hours in the Pushard Family Funeral Home, 210 Sherman Street, on Friday, January 6, from 4-7 p.m. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Oscar Romero Catholic Church (formerly St. John’s), 700 Washington Street. Interment St. Mary’s cemetery, Canton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joan’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Pl., Memphis, TN 38105.
