Town releases draft plan for Canton Electricity Choice
By GuestThe town of Canton is pleased to announce its new Electricity Choice program. The program will be a municipal electricity aggregation, which is a type of purchasing program that will allow the town to use its collective buying power to take a big step toward its sustainability goals while providing affordable renewable electricity to Canton homes and businesses.
The Canton Electricity Choice program will provide new options that give customers greater control over the cost and environmental impact of the electricity they use.
Though the program will not be able to guarantee savings, the town is committed to working toward competitive and stable prices.
Before launching the program, the town must develop an Aggregation Plan and submit it to state regulators for review and approval. To ensure the public has an opportunity to be a part of developing this program, the town is making its draft Aggregation Plan available for review and comment before beginning that regulatory review process.
The draft Aggregation Plan for Canton Electricity Choice is available for public review and comment now through February 2 on the town website with hard copies available in the Town Clerk’s Office at Canton Town Hall.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to review the plan and submit written comments to Town of Canton, 801 Washington St., Canton, MA 02021 (Attn: Canton Energy Advisory Committee) or via email to ceac@town.canton.ma.us. Comments sent by mail must be received (not postmarked) by the end of the comment period in order to be addressed.
An overview of the plan will be presented at a public information session on Tuesday, January 24, at 7 p.m. Information for participating can be found on the town calendar. Anyone who requires an ASL interpreter for this event should submit their request to support@cantonelectricitychoice.com by January 18.
