CHS artists selected for EYA juried exhibition
By Canton CitizenWorks by two talented CHS student artists, senior Olivia Schnock and sophomore Caroline Ye, have been selected for inclusion in this year’s highly competitive Emerging Young Artists (EYA) Juried Exhibition presented by the College of Visual and Performing Arts at UMass Dartmouth.
Schnock’s digital art piece, “Stress,” and Ye’s clay and wire sculpture, “Cherry Blossoms,” were among the 120 works chosen by the juror, Lawrence Jenkens, dean of the College of Visual and Performing Arts, out of more than 590 submissions.
A virtual opening reception for all of the exhibiting artists, their teachers, guests, and members of the general public was held on Friday, January 27, and all selected works can be viewed online at umassd.edu/cvpa/galleries/online.
The public can also vote for a ‘People’s Choice’ by visiting the exhibit’s Facebook album, and a physical exhibition of award winners and honorable mention recipients will take place from February 9-19 in Gallery 244 at UMass Dartmouth’s CVPA Star Store Campus in downtown New Bedford with a closing reception on Sunday, February 19, at 3 p.m. All are welcome to attend.
