Blue Hills photo contest underway
By Canton CitizenSubmissions are now being accepted for the Friends of the Blue Hills’ annual photo contest, sponsored by Page + Waterman Gallery & Framing and Dedham Savings. Contestants are welcome to submit up to five photos at no cost showing why people love the Blue Hills — and why we all need to help care for it.
Anyone who enters will be eligible to win one of four $250 gift certificates to Page + Waterman Gallery & Framing in Wellesley, with one going to the popular vote winner, one to the judges’ choice winner, and two subject category winners for the judges’ favorites depicting “What Lives in the Blue Hills” (plants, animals, insects) and “Who Visits the Blue Hills” (showcasing park visitors and the activities they enjoy).
The deadline for entering and/or voting in this year’s contest is Friday, September 1, at 5 p.m.
To date, more than 70 photos have been entered, with Canton’s Tim Shanahan among the top early vote-getters for his photo of the “Old Man of the Blue Hills.” Last year, another Canton resident, Thomas McCaffery, took home the coveted judges’ choice prize for his photo titled “Dam at Dawn #1.”
