Hogan, Lorraine
By Canton CitizenLorraine Thomas Hogan, 78, passed away on August 14 following a long illness.
Born in San Mateo, CA, she spent time living in various places, including St. Louis, New Orleans, and Mexico City, eventually finding her way to New England, where she met and married her late husband, William John Hogan Jr., spending the final four decades in her adopted home of Canton.
She is survived by her three children, Patrick Hogan and his wife, Sarah Mealey, of Malden, Michael Hogan of Canton, and Katherine Barry and her husband, Joseph Barry, of Norwood. She is also survived by her brother Craig Thomas of Los Gatos, CA. She leaves behind many of her husband’s siblings, as well her nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Lastly, she leaves behind her three beloved grandsons, Lucas, Jackson, and Tucker Barry of Norwood.
Lorraine worked for many years as a food service worker for both the Canton Public Schools and Massachusetts Hospital School. She served as a CCD teacher for St. John’s the Evangelist Parish and also spent many years doing volunteer work for Canton Animal Control and the Canton Food Pantry. She spent her free time reading, crocheting, and spending time with her many pets. In her final years she dedicated as much time as she could to creating lifelong memories with her nephews.
Visiting hours Sunday from 4-7 p.m. Funeral service at the Dockray and Thomas Funeral Home, 455 Washington Street, Monday at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Lung Association.
