Controversial library books give cause for concern
By GuestDear Editor:
I read Denise Falbo’s August 24 letter to the editor on behalf of Indivisible Canton in support of the American Library Association (ALA). Indivisible Canton, according to Falbo, comprises 140 members.
I submit that if parents, grandparents, and other Canton residents read passages from the books in question and supported by the ALA, there would be a lot more than 140 persons who feel they are, at the least, inappropriate, if not damaging to our young children. It is likely the Canton Citizen would not print many of the passages, yet we subject our children to them.
Finally, let’s not forget that a tax-funded, non-elected person chooses not only what books are bought, but what books are not bought. That is de facto book banning.
