Annual Canton Road Race
By Canton CitizenCanton’s Lois Raffetto and Peter Milne swept the top two spots in the 5K distance, and several other local runners also made their mark during the 19th running of the Canton Road Race held Sunday on the grounds of Trillium Brewing Co. on Royall Street.
The popular fall event, which also featured a 10K race and kids’ fun run, drew over 500 participants from greater Boston to the South Coast while raising an estimated $40,000 for local nonprofits through the Canton Association of Business and Industry (CABI) Charitable Foundation.
Steve Cesso of Computershare, one of the original race organizers, said in its 19-year history the race has raised more than a half million dollars for local organizations such as the Canton Food Pantry and Pappas Rehabilitation Hospital for Children as well as for scholarships awarded to students at Canton High School and Blue Hills Regional Technical School.
Returning to Trillium’s headquarters for the second year in a row, the race this year featured a new presenting sponsor in Point32Health, a Canton-based nonprofit formed by the merger of Harvard Pilgrim Health Care and Tufts Health Plan. Several other CABI member businesses also served as race sponsors, including Boston Mutual Life Insurance Co., Emergent BioSolutions, Computershare, Bank of Canton, Fidelity Information Services (FIS), Trillium, Gray, Gray & Gray, Wegmans, Eversource, Redball Promotions and NMG Marketing …
