Town leaders need to be held accountable
By GuestDear Editor:
I learned years ago that the Canton Citizen is as much about Canton as it is of Canton. It’s a fabric and product of the town with lifelong, close ties to many inside and outside of Town Hall. The latest example of that was the absence of reporting on what’s being called the “RFC” comment. Not until letters to the editor were received was the issue brought to the attention of readers.
In my opinion, the RFC comment and other major missteps by the Select Board are unforgivable and need to be addressed by resignation(s) or votes of no confidence. The use of intimidation and anger to discourage input and questions has been effective for far too long and needs to stop. Are there not more past and present leaders willing to condemn behavior that isn’t fit for a distinguished and respected body of chief executives of the town? At election time, voters will remember and support those who had the courage to do so.
