Follow the Yellow Brick Road — sometimes referred to as Washington Street — to Canton High School and see the Drama Club’s dazzling production of The Wizard of Oz, which premieres next Friday evening, November 17, in the CHS auditorium.

“This faithful adaptation of L. Frank Baum’s famous novel features all the most beloved songs and moments from the 1939 classic film and more,” noted Drama Club Director Katie Brobst. “Wait until you see Dorothy Gale be swept away by a tornado from her Kansas farm to the magical land of Oz. There, she encounters a host of whimsical characters: good witches, bad witches, animals that talk, scarecrows that walk, and things magical to behold.”

In addition to the cast of CHS students, this production will also feature nine children from the community in the roles of Kid Munchkins!

“We are so excited to have them in our cast and we know you will love their performances,” Brobst said. “Oh, we also have a real dog playing Toto!”

Performances are Friday, November 17, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, November 18, at 4 p.m.; and Sunday, November 19, at 2 p.m., with the final performance also featuring a meet-and-greet with the lead characters after the show.

Advance tickets with seat selection are available at showtix4u.com for $10 each for students and seniors or $12 each for adults. Tickets will also be sold at the door while supplies for $12/$15.

The production runs for about two hours with one intermission and promises to be fun for all ages.
